List of exhibition spaces

I'ld like to suggest that we compile a list of exhibition spaces we have visited and/or equired about, i know the mojority of the class has been looking into spaces over the past year, i think having a record of this will be usuful and even listing unavaible or unsuitable places will help because we can save time, effort and money by ruling places out.

Maybe write the spaces
name/location
brief description
suitabitly (pros/cons) eg. good lighting, bad traffic flow ect..
and availblity if know

Red Gallery has been contacted & is available.

Gallery 101 (101 Collins St) has been contacted & is NOT available.

FortyFiveDownstairs (45 Flinders Lane) has been contacted & is NOT available.

Off The Kerb has been contacted & may be available but is probably too small from their response to my enquiry. A more senior person is to get back to me shortly.

The Substation in Newport - as per previous correspondence.

Not 100% convinced about the suitability of the venue due to building works that maybe carried out during the year.

The pro's are:

- lots of space.
- car parking.
- close to Newport railway station.
- cheap.
- hire our own caterers, supply booze ourselves.
- has a distinctive character instead of four plain walls, a roof and a floor.

Cons:

- Community arts centre means no full-time staff.
- Not run as a professional, commercial gallery.
- Don't offer any additional services such as mailing lists, etc.
- Building works may clash with the time we want to exhibit.
- Work would need to be done on lighting, painting walls, general clean-up.
- Wheelchair access is available but the ramp is blocked by temporary fencing.
